SK-II's trademark product and global favorite, is their facial treatment facial essence made from Pitera. The legend of Pitera started when Japanese scientists noticed that Japanese elderly laborers who worked closely in the sake fermentation process had amazingly youthful looking hands despite these laborers being elderly. SK-II scientists followed this phenomenon and later discovered that the sake fermentation process contained Pitera, an ingredient found in the fermented yeast of the sake brewing process.
